Through a series of Charlie Robison Legacy Scholarships beginning in 2026, the foundation is committed to giving a hand up to other small-town kids with similarly narrow horizons. With your help, we can grow our reach each year and shine a spotlight on the youth who show up in life in unique and authentic ways and~~ who don’t always fit traditional scholarship checkboxes. The truth is, many of these kids may never walk into their counselor’s office asking for a scholarship - they may not think they qualify academically based on what is normalized in most Scholarships. With your help, and the schools’ help, we can find them. Their teachers and coaches know who they are. Together, we can make sure their names are called, their stories are heard, and their sparks are seen.
Starting January 1, 2026, My Hometown Charlie Robison Music Scholarship applications will be open to Texas High School Seniors in the following areas of Texas. Each year, there will be a different area, a new set of kids to find. Eligibility requirements as well as an Essay submission will be included in the application and are due no later than April 15, 2026.
Here are Year 1 Scholarships Descriptions:
Through private donations and fundraising via community and music events, we are proud to announce:
TWO (2) $10,000 Scholarships in the Area of MUSIC will be awarded in Charlie’s name in YEAR 1; open to Texas High Schools with UIL enrollment classifications 1A, 2A & 3A; and
THREE (3) $5,000 Scholarships, in Charlie’s HOMETOWN of Bandera, Texas. One each in the area of Music, Athletics, and Agriculture/4H/FFA.
Scholarship Applicant general nomination criteria can be found below; however, please See Representing High School for actual Submission Process:
· Must be in the top 50th Percentile of their class Academically
· They must show real financial need.
· They must share with us how they do show up, whether it be in their field of study, community, at work, with family.
· They should have earned a Distinguished Level of Achievement and/or received acknowledgment for outstanding performance, with two or more supporting letters of recommendation from teachers/mentors.
· And lastly, a Personal Essay, which asks the Question, “How does your life most relate to a Charlie Robison song?” Keeping future generations in touch with Charlie’s Musical Legacy and his story that they will be able to relate to and feel inspired by…realizing that they too have a story, or wisdom that goes deeper than books. When applicants reflect on Charlie’s lyrics, they carry the torch into their own creative lives.
Thank you for helping us honor Charlie’s life and spirit by finding the young people he would have believed in and continuing to support this foundation through ongoing donations.
With gratitude and heart,
Robyn Ludwick

My Hometown:
The Charlie Robison
Music Foundation for Youth
What happens to the kid who has ambition but is unsure where to channel it? Who, instead of a member of the National Honor Society, is the kid who must work after school to help support their family? What about the kid who finds belonging in sports or band or 4H rather than the classroom? Or the kid who hides at home in their room, strumming a guitar ?
The obstacles that My Hometown youths face, are the very stories that will fuel their art. Everything they’ve already survived and overcome is their superpower, their voice. This is what My Hometown, The Charlie Robison Foundation for Youth is all about.
